Text: "In a survey off Margam Estate lands in 1814 (GRO, Cardiff D/D/MA Ref Z) Lewis was holding the Stormy/Pencastell lands....
The Stormy/Pencastell lands had been in the Lewis family (the family of Lewis JONES mother's first husband). The original homestead of the Stormy/Pencastell holding was on the south side of the present mail South Wales railway line. When the railway was built in 1851 it severed the holding and the homestead was moved to its present position on the ridge overlooking Kenfig Hill. The date of the move is indicated by the fact that when Gwenllian Jones died in in 1849, she was described as being of Stormy, but when her daughter Catherine married in 1854 she is described as being of Pencastell."
