Red Deer Hill, Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Canada

Citation details: Letter from Bill Davies to Andrew dated 13 Nov 1983
Text: "In 1903, he sold the business and took the family (Mother, Annie, Peggy and me) to Canada in May of that year. He paid the deposit on a farm 15 miles N of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. The harvest was a disaster because of almost incessant thunderstorms and violent rain. So we came back to S.Wales where we lived with grandma Powell until father started an auctioneering and valuing business in Bristol. A few days after we arrived in South Wales, (Percy) was born - 5 October 1903"

Text: Hi Ron,
I have had a look through the Bristol street directories for the period you are interested in and I have found that the first mention of 768 Fishponds Road is in 1906 when the shop is listed as being occupied by J and E Hammond, tobacconists and stationers. From 1908, in addition to the Hammonds, Reginald T.P.Bennett, Solicitor, and William W.Davies, Estate Agent, are also listed as occupying the premises. It should be remembered, however, that the directories were compiled in the year before they were actually published so this puts the date back by nearly a year.
Hope thatis of help
Best Regards
John Penny
